Six cars have been seized across Accrington after a number of complaints were sent to police.

Abandoned cars have been reported in Fairfield Street, Hartley Avenue and Richmond Road.

This has been an “ongoing problem” which has had an impact on the community.

On Wednesday (April 3), six cars were seized and seven day notices were issued. A large wagon was removed, which had been abandoned in Richmond Road.

A police spokesperson said: “We have had a number of complaints over the last few weeks of abandoned cars on Fairfield Street, Hartley Ave and Richmond Road.

“This has been an ongoing problem which has impacted the local community.

“In response to the complaints from the local community, we organised a day of action which was conducted earlier this afternoon.

“Hyndburn Police joined forces with the Environmental department at Hyndburn Council with support from the local elected members.

“Six cars have been seized a number of seven-day notices issued and one large wagon was removed which had been abandoned on Richmond Road.

“The day was very successful which will send a costly message to the people who leave these cars abandoned.”
