A stunning glass exterior to a Blackburn town centre building has been unveiled.

Builders have finished installing the glass façade at the Eanam site with the site already being praised for bringing a "bit of London" to Blackburn by onlookers.

The former car showroom was converted into the Shere Khan restaurant in 2007.

It was taken over by the Maida Restaurant, which closed in 2019.

Later, renovations plans were announced and exterior walls at the former Maida Restaurant were demolished in 2020.

In March 2021 the new 100-seater German Doner Kebab (GDK) restaurant opened taking up the ground floor. This was followed by a dessert parlour next door.

The second floor will be a new wedding and events venue. Work on the new spiral staircase began in 2021 and re-started in recent months with builders installing steel girders.

Following delays the new glass panels finally went up on the corner of Eanam and Eanam Old Road.

One onlooker said: "It looks impressive doesn't it. It is like a bit of London has just landed in Blackburn.

"You could call it the Shard of Blackburn."

The project is being led by the AG Construction a part of the Adhan Group.
