Police say they are "investigating" after a school girl was reportedly "slapped" by an adult woman.
It is alleged that a 50-year-old woman followed a 13-year-old girl home from her Blackburn high school last Thursday (March 21).
The teenager's mother, who has contacted the Lancashire Telegraph, claims the woman "approached her daughter and began a verbal attack, before striking her face by slapping her, then driving off in her vehicle".
The alleged incident was reported to the police and it is believed officers have paid a visit to the woman.
The alleged incident is also thought to have been reported to the child's school, however, as it was outside of the school grounds, they are unable to take action.
A spokesperson for the police said: "This has been reported to us and it is under investigation."
Anyone with any information should contact the police on 101 quoting log number 0982 of March 21.
