Two women have been named and charged by Lancashire Police following a burglary in which a phone and smart speaker were stolen.

Bryony Willan, 28, of Bow Wood Close, Chorley and Roxanne Bibby, 32, of Brock Road, Chorley, were charged last week with burglary in a dwelling.

Both were due to appear in court on Friday.

Police say the burglary happened on Tuesday February 27 at a property in Chorley.

A spokesperson for the police said on Friday: "Electrical items including a phone and a smart speaker were stolen.

"Following numerous enquiries by the South residential burglary team, two women were arrested yesterday on suspicion of burglary."

The women were arrested as part of Operation Defender, a force wide campaign to crackdown on residential burglary.

Operation Defender aims to locate and arrest offenders, take positive action to reduce residential burglary through crime prevention advice, and to safeguard and support victims of crime, keeping them at the heart of investigations.
