A once-famous Blackburn snooker club has a slate roof for the first time in four years.
The new slates were installed by workers this week, nearly a year since the roof was replaced at the site, on Clayton Street
Work has been halted a number of times over the past few years but the site now looks to be watertight. The next stage is likely to be the installation of windows and doors.
In recent weeks workers could be seen restoring and installing slates on the roof of the old John’s Snooker and Pool Bar, which was destroyed in a major fire in March 2020 - just days before the first covid lockdown.
The blaze affected a large section of the building and led to the roof collapsing.
In September 2021, contractors began to clear the site and later metal girders were erected during the first stages of the re-building.

The snooker club sign is obscured by the scaffolding but remains in place for the time being. One of the most ambitious town centre projects, the building could be a major hospitality venue in the future.
John’s Snooker Club hosted some of the most famous faces in the sport throughout the 1980s and 1990s. It closed more than a decade ago and has remained abandoned ever since.
