Commuters are being asked to avoid Darwen town centre due to a traffic lights failure.
Last night (Tuesday, March 19), Blackburn with Darwen Council sent a team of engineers out to the A666 in Darwen, close to Darwen Leisure Centre, after reports of a fault with the traffic lights.
Motorists were asked to "please take care as, while it’s closed, the lights down from the health centre are on green".
It was thought that the issue had been resolved on Tuesday evening, however, this morning, Wednesday, March 20, the council stated that the fault had reoccurred during the night.
The council has now asked people to avoid the area, again, until the contractors have been out to fix the problem.
A spokesperson for Blackburn with Darwen Council said: "Unfortunately the fault with these traffic lights has reoccurred during the night.
"Our team is on their way to Darwen town centre now to turn the lights off until contractors can attend this morning.
"Again, please avoid the area if you can until the fault is corrected.
"But if you do need to drive along that stretch of the A666 (close to the leisure centre) please take care as the lights down from the Health Centre are stuck on green.
"Apologies for the inconvenience and thank you for your patience.
"We’ll update you again as soon as we can."
