People from across Blackburn are being invited to a mosque for an Iftar event.

The Al-Momineen Mosque, in Ash Street, is hosting the event which aims to bring communities together and celebrate the ‘beauty of Ramadan’ on Saturday, March 30.

Food will be served to all guests when the daily fast breaks at around 6.45pm.

People are invited to attend from 5.15pm and hear from representatives of the mosque.

The event is part of ‘Taste Ramadan’, a national initiative that welcomes people from ‘all faiths and backgrounds interested in connecting with the community and learning about other cultures’.

The mosque said if you are a Muslim attending this event, you must attend with a non-Muslim neighbour or colleague. This is a free event and open to all.

To find out more about the attending you can register here or call 07590 664261.

The mosque is also hosting two fundraising events to raise funds for its funeral centre.

These events offer an opportunity to break your fast ‘in the company of neighbours while contributing to a noble cause’.

Tickets are priced at £25 each, with a discounted rate of £15 for children under 12.

The mosque said: “Your attendance and support will directly impact the establishment of a vital funeral centre, ensuring dignified and respectful services for our community members in their final journey.

The event for men will take place on Good Friday, March 29, and for women on Wednesday, April 3.
