A man has been charged after police received reports about someone brandishing a machete in a town centre.
On Friday afternoon (March 15), police received several calls about a man who was allegedly waving a machete around in Nelson town centre.
Officers were deployed to the scene and a man was arrested.
Officers also recovered a large machete style knife with a blade approximately 40cm in length (pictured).
Following interview, Nidham Ferchichi, of no fixed abode was charged with being in possession of a bladed article in a public place.
He was remanded and will be appearing at court tomorrow (March 18).
