A couple has lodged plans with the council to add pitches for 33 static and touring caravans to land which already site more than 120 mobile homes.

Mr and Mrs N and A. Hudson want permission to change the use of some of the land at Lower Greenhill Farm in Salterforth, Barnoldswick, to permit the siting of 18 static caravan pitches and 15 touring caravan/campervan pitches.

The existing caravan park, Lower Greenhill Caravan Park, at Kelbrook Road, already includes more than 120 touring pitches and static caravans.

A planning statement submitted to Pendle Council explains that the proposed development will comprise touring caravan pitches, static caravans/lodges, minor internal access roads, water retention basin, landscaping (including boundary screening) and low-level bollard lighting.

The statement reads: “The site will be accessed from within the existing adjacent caravan park.

“Parking spaces will be provided adjacent to each touring caravan pitch.

“The layout of the development has been planned to provide generous buffer spaces between the touring pitches and at all site boundaries.

“The buffer spaces will be landscaped with dense native species screen planting”.

There are no public rights of way that run through or immediately adjacent to the site itself, although there are numerous public rights of way within the wider area.

One objection has been raised so far raising concerns over visual amenity, the size of the development and the number of caravan sites that already exist in the area.

Anyone wishing to comment on the application has until March 21 to do so.
