Traffic is "stationary" and all lanes are closed on the M65 between junctions 2 and 3 due to a crash.
Lancashire Police are at the scene of the crash on the eastbound carriageway and are advising that the road will be closed for some time.
The AA traffic news website is reporting "stationary traffic" on the motorway between junction 2 (Clayton Brook/M61 J9) and junction 3 (Chorley Road/Blackburn West).
A police spokesperson said: "We’re currently at the scene of a road traffic collision at junction 2 of the M65. As a result all lanes are closed going Eastbound between junctions 2 and 3.
The #M65 eastbound between J2 (#M61) and J3 (#Hoghton) is now closed due to a collision.
