Lancashire Police has put out an appeal for horses to loan, for a new riding course aimed at their experienced riders.

The police forced is on the hunt for ‘hooved talent’ and has promised to cover a variety of costs, including vet bills and hay costs.

A spokesperson said this is a chance for your horse to “fulfil an incredible destiny”.

According to the advertisement, the force has specific requirements for the horses they are looking for.

The animals must be at least 16 hands high and more than five-years-old of age.

Any breed will be considered but  the horses should be good tempered, safe to ride.

It must also be able to walk, trot, canter and jump fences at least 80cm high.

In return, the force has offered to cover livery costs, including hay, feed and bedding.

Costs of regular vet and physio visits will be covered.

The force has also promised to provide the owner with regular updates and says the horse will live comfortably in a large field, with “airy stables”.

Lancashire police horses live at its police stables and each horse has his own stable and is named after a Lancashire town and the Queen’s Jubilee and Preston Guild.

Police horses are give officers a higher vantage point to scan their surroundings and spot potential issues. It also allows officers to steer through crowded areas quickly and get to locations unreachable by car or bicycle.
