UPDATE AT 2.45PM - There are still believed to be protestors outside BAE this afternoon but traffic is coping well in the area.

Motorists are still advised to find alternative routes during tonight's rush hour to avoid delays in travel.

There's queueing traffic on the A59 close to BAE this morning due to a protest.

Lancashire Police have confirmed that there are around 20 people protesting outside BAE Systems at Samlesbury with "some traffic backing up, but the road is open".

According to the AA website, there is a "traffic problem" on the A59 Myerscough Road, both ways, near the Thwaites Brewery roundabout.

The road is "partially blocked" and traffic is queueing in both directions from Osbaldeston through to Mellor Brook and the junction at Samlesbury.

The AA website states: "Partially blocked, queueing traffic, traffic problem.

"Partially blocked, queueing traffic and traffic problem on A59 Myerscough Road both ways from Woods Brow to (Thwaites roundabout)."

It is believed the protest began around 7am today (Wednesday, March 6).

The road is open and traffic is passing through but there are tailbacks which will affect those travelling to and from Blackburn/Clitheroe and Preston.

Please find alternative routes if you can.
