A road in Burnley is “impassable” due the the wintry conditions in East Lancashire.

Police have warned motorists to be careful in Rossendale and Burnley as snow may cause hazardous conditions on the roads.

Police have asked motorists to “delay their journey” until the weather improves.

Crown Point Road in Burnley has been described as “impassable” due to the now.

The council has been contacted and will tend to the road “as quickly as possible”.

A police spokesperson said: “Please be aware of the weather in the Rossendale and Burnley areas.

“Crown Point Road is currently impassable due to the snow. We have contacted our colleagues at the council who are arranging to attend as quickly as possible.

“Please delay your journey until the weather improves if you can.”

According to the Met Office, sleet and possible snow showers have been forecast across Rossendale and Burnley this afternoon.

In other parts of East Lancashire it’s set to be rainy.

Temperatures are set to remain cold, with lows of 0°C and highs of 4°C forecast.
