A Blackburn healthcare firm has been working with the EG Group to raise more awareness of the importance of getting your hearing checked.

Teams from Clears Healthcare checked 600 staff at the EG Group headquarters in Blackburn. Their screening programme led to 546 staff opting for hearing tests and screening and 157 receiving ear wax removal services.

Clears Healthcare, was co-founded by Ibrahim Patel and includes a team of dedicated audiologists.

Ibrahim said: “We have been speaking to the EG Group and decided it would be a good idea to look at the health of their employees.

“Four of our staff were on site doing screening and hearing tests and ear wax removals.

“We had 25 cases where staff were encouraged to look to seek further help.

“Such issues may not have been spotted if it was not for screening.”

Lancashire Telegraph:

Audiologist Aasiyah said: "Observing people's reactions upon discovering the free screening campaign was gratifying.

“Many expressed a wish for having had access to this service sooner.

"Participants appreciated the opportunity to receive video footage of their ear canals and eardrums. Furthermore, educating them on basic ear anatomy and recognising early signs of ear problems and wax build-up was a valuable aspect of the campaign."

The company said it wanted to improve accessibility to services and address the challenges posed by NHS service limitations and extensive waiting lists.

One EG Group staff member said: “I was having hearing problems, so I booked myself in at the hearing screening at the office. Fantastic job with removing my ear wax that was built up.

"My hearing feels amazing now and I can hear much better in the office. The best thing is they work, both mobile and clinic and I would definitely recommend for my family and friends, amazing Service.”
