An East Lancashire college has announced the opening of its new dance academy.

The launch event for Burnley College’s BC Juniors Dance Academy will be this Saturday (March 2) from 10am to 1pm at the college’s on-site gym, Fitness Evolution.

The academy offers an exciting opportunity for children aged five to 11 to explore their passion for dance and performing arts.

It will offer a nurturing environment where young performers can develop their skills in various dance styles, including street dance, gym, ballet, contemporary, and musical theatre.

Sammy Allen, curriculum manager for creative arts and media at Burnley College, said: “This is so much more than offering the young people from Burnley and surrounding areas the opportunity to train with performance professionals in a cutting-edge and welcoming environment.

“It is also an opportunity to meet people, and for parents to get together and relax while their children enjoy themselves.

“What’s so important and what we’re so excited about is being able to offer such a broad range of styles, which gives young people the opportunity to explore their talents and discover how Burnley College can work with you to grow those talents into a fully-fledged career.”

The launch event will give participants a taste of what the academy has to offer, with a schedule packed full of diverse dance classes.

Parents are also invited to stay, enjoy free refreshments, and observe the opportunities the college’s performing arts division has to offer.

The first day is free and sessions thereafter are priced at £2.50 each.
