This is an intriguing photo from the archives which shows Bold Venture Park in Darwen was the centre of attention.
Dating to May 1967 you can see the Ashton Kiosk in the background. The kiosk, which would later be come known as the Scout Hut, was built in 1902 to serve teas to mill workers who would stroll through the park on their Sundays off.
You can see a group of Scouts being photographed on the porch of the ‘hut’ but we have no idea who the well-dressed trio in the foreground are.
Were they part of some official celebration or were they just visiting the park? If anyone can help provide more information we’d love to hear from them.
