A man is to be sentenced after he assaulted a woman by strangling her.

Konstatin Zirnon, 39, pleaded guilty to one count of assault occasioning actual bodily harm at a hearing at Burnley Crown Court.

The offence, which was against Oksana Zirnova, happened on March 27, 2021, but was not reported to police until two years later.

The court heard the grip “was not tight” but Ms Zirnova did experience some difficulty breathing.

Judge Sara Dodd said: “You may have your bail. You must come back for your sentence, which could be here in Burnley or in Preston.

“Should you not attended where and when you should, that is a separate criminal offence for which you can go to prison.”

Zirnon, of Cog Lane, Burnley, is due to be sentenced on May 14.
