One person was treated by ambulance crews following a house fire in Darwen in the early hours of this morning.
Fire engines from Blackburn and Darwen were called to the scene on Hilton Road shortly after 3am today (February 16).
A picture shared by Darwen Fire Station on X shows the extent of the damage to a bedroom where the fire originated.
All visible walls and the ceiling are covered in scorch marks and everything visible within the photo appears to be destroyed.
The fire service said the occupier of the room was able to make their way out of the house without any serious injuries.
A fire service spokesperson said: “Three fire engines from Blackburn and Darwen attended a domestic building fire on Hilton Road, Darwen.
“Firefighters used four breathing apparatus, one hose reel, and a positive-pressure ventilation unit to extinguish the fire.
“One casualty was checked by North West Ambulance Service (NWAS) paramedics.
“Crews were in attendance for an hour.”
Investigations are underway to determine the cause of the fire.
