A woman from Accrington is to be sentenced for using threatening behaviour towards one man and racially aggravated behaviour towards another.

Danielle Orrom was convicted in her absence of three offences, after she pleaded not guilty in April 2023, but failed to appear at Blackburn Magistrates’ Court for her trial in December last year.

The 43-year-old, of Bold Street, Accrington was found guilty in her absence of using threatening behaviour towards John Knight on July 31 2022.

She was also found guilty of racially aggravated behaviour towards Ismail Alrahmoun on two occasions, on July 20 and July 31, 2022.

Blackburn Magistrates’ Court heard how Orrom had been told to attend a plea hearing in March last year but failed to show up and a warrant was issued for her arrest.

Following the execution of the warrant, she was brought to court and pleaded not guilty to the offences in April and a trial date was set of August 15.

However, Orrom again failed to attend court and her bail was extended until December 14 for her adjourned trial.

When she didn’t show for her trial in December, the case was heard without her, and she was convicted and told to attend the magistrates for her sentence on Tuesday, February 13.

However, during the hearing on Tuesday, District Judge Alexandra Preston adjourned Orrom’s sentencing hearing until March, to give her the opportunity to attend a meeting with the probation service in order for a pre-sentence report to be prepared.

District Judge Preston said: “It’s important that probation interview you so there’s a report written for when you come back to court next time.

“I am going to bail you, but you must abide by the following conditions.

“You must reside and sleep at Bold Street in Accrington, and you must co-operate with the probation service and make sure you attend the appointment so that next time I see you I have a report about you.

“It’s in your best interests for there to be a report as probation will recommend, I hope, a sentence that might help you as well as punish you.

“Don’t breach those bail conditions as if you do you will be arrested.”

Orrom was bailed conditionally to re-attend at Blackburn magistrates for her sentence hearing on March 14.
