Former Coronation star Julie Hesmondhalgh is returning to the stage for some special performances at The Octagon in Bolton.

After filming her last scenes on Coronation Street, Julie took herself off to the Lakes to spend time reading the diaries and notebooks left by her dad, John, after his death at the start of the year.

What followed was a journey of discovery, as she got to know the bright and poetic young man through John’s words, many of them written in the 40s and 50s.

Julie will be performing her autobiography ‘These I Love is a hymn to Julie’s own working-class childhood in Accrington, to her wonderful dad, and to the healing power of comedy.

She will be performing for four nights only until Friday February 16.

Following each performance there will be a Q&A with Julie on stage followed by a book signing.

Tickets are selling fast and there is limited availability for some dates.

It’s not the first time Julie has paid a visit to Bolton.

Last year Julie visited the library for a book reading, and also came to support  her friend Rosie Adamson-Clark for the screening of her films at an LGBTQ+ film festival, at Bolton Hospice.

She has recently starred in the powerful true life drama Mr Bates V The Post Office
