A former police officer has been placed on the barring list after a misconduct hearing found him guilty of making offensive and sexist comments, and using coercive and controlling behaviours towards female colleagues.

Lancashire Constabulary also stated had former police constable Stone still been employed by the force, following the misconduct hearing, he would have been sacked immediately.

Former officer Stone, whose collar number was 1834, faced a misconduct hearing at the force’s Hutton headquarters on January 11.

The hearing, which was chaired by Chief Constable Chris Rowley, was presented with evidence which alleged former PC Stone had breached the Standards of Professional Behaviour by allegedly making offensive and sexist comments and using coercive and controlling behaviours towards a number of female colleagues.

It was further alleged former PC Stone had sexually assaulted a colleague while off duty.

Chief Constable Chris Rowley found Stone's conduct breached the Standards of Professional Behaviour, namely discreditable conduct and authority, respect and courtesy and amounted to gross misconduct.

A notice from the misconduct hearing stated: “Had he still have been serving, former Officer 1834 Stone would have been dismissed and his details will now be included on the barred list.”

It is believed former officer Stone resigned from Lancashire Constabulary in March 2023, before the misconduct hearing took place.
