Here’s a photo from the archive to test Looking Back readers.
Taken in 1967 it shows a row of shops having to be shored up after the building became unsafe.
The shops in question were on Astley Gate in Blackburn. In the middle of the row was a gentleman’s barbers and on the corner on the right was a shop which says Wm Duckworth - any idea about the nature of this shop?
One interesting feature on the photograph is the cigarette machine on the wall between the barbers and Duckworth’s - not something you are ever likely to see on streets today.
