A 62-year-old man has been jailed after £4000 worth of jewellery and designer bags were stolen in Ormskirk.

James Kendrick was arrested and charged following the incident at a property in Mawdesley on 9 December.

On Thursday (February 1) at Preston Crown Court, Kendrick, of Harrow Road, Liverpool was convicted of burglary and jailed for two years.

A police spokesperson said: "Operation Defender aims to locate and arrest offenders, take positive action to reduce residential burglary through crime prevention advice, and to safeguard and support victims of crime, keeping them at the heart of investigations."
