A bar in Ramsbottom is preparing to call last orders, after announcing its closure.

The Northern Whisper Ramsbottom Tap Room, on the corner of Bridge Street and Ramsbottom Lane, has announced that its last day of trading will be Sunday, February 11.

In a statement, issued by the Northern Whisper Brewing Company, the lack of footfall at the venue has been blamed for the site’s closure.

A spokesperson said it was “not a nice decision” to make but added that the business, which has been open for four years, is no longer viable.

A spokesperson said: “It’s with regret we have to announce the closure of the Ramsbottom Tap Room.

“Closing a venue is never a nice decision but unfortunately the venue just isn’t getting enough footfall to make keeping it open viable.

“There is still a couple of weeks left for you to pop in and say goodbye, our last trading day will be Sunday, February 11.

“We would like to thank everyone who has supported us over the past 4 years and we look forward to hopefully seeing you again at our Rawtenstall venue.”

According to the company website, the Ramsbottom Tap Room was the company’s third town centre venue.

It specialises in cask beers and also sells a range of gins, spirits and wines.

In 2022, the Northern Whisper Colne Tap Room, on Church Street, closed.

The company’s flagship site, on Newchurch Road in Rawtenstall, remains open.

Its description says: “Open five days per week from Wednesday to Sunday it is the medium through which brewery meets consumer.

“We pride ourselves on being inclusive and take great delight in the fact that we have hosted everything from mother and baby classes to a 92nd birthday.

“Bring the dog, bring the kids and enjoy our full range along with a wide selection of gins and other beverages.”

Northern Whisper Brewing Company was approached for more information but declined.
