This photo from around 1960 gives us a view of part of Blackburn which has long gone.
You are looking at Primrose Bank at Larkhill. The terraced houses were demolished around 1963 as new tower blocks - the Larkhill flats were constructed.
What makes the photo all the more interesting is that it shows yet another of the town’s ‘lost’ pubs - the Primrose Hotel.
This pub had quite a history. Brewery records show that it was a Thwaites’ house as far back as 1880. On the right you can see an archway which possibly originally led to the stables.
