A man is to be sentenced after he pleaded guilty to robbing another man on Christmas Day.

Ishtiaq Ahmed, 38, approached a man and robbed him of a sum of money and a European Health Insurance Card.

He pleaded guilty to this offence and to an offence of possessing a knife.

Ahmed, who appeared at Preston Crown Court via video link, was also before Judge Simon Medland in November in relation to a burglary.

A pre-sentence report has been prepared for that offence and the two offences will now be sentenced together.

Judge Medland said: “There is already a pre-sentence report prepared and a sentence date set for the other matter on February 19.

“We will now combine this case with that and you will be sentenced then.”

Ahmed, of Burnley Road, Rawtenstall, will be remanded in custody until the sentence date.
