A cake shop in Burnley has announced its closure after six years of trading.

Bella's Bakes is a bespoke cake shop that makes wedding cakes, christening cakes, birthday cakes, and other cake designs for all occasions.

Located in Manchester Road, owner Hannah Greenwood announced the closure on Facebook.

Lancashire Telegraph: In a statement, she said: "After nearly six incredible years, I have made the decision to close Bella's Bakes.

"This has been an incredibly hard decision but I believe it to be the right one.

"This means we will no longer be accepting new orders. All existing orders are being honoured no one is being let down and all existing customers should have received an email explaining the situation.

"Thank you so much to all of my incredible customers over the years. It's been a pleasure to make such special cakes for you.

"If you can, shop small and support your local businesses. Things are incredibly challenging for so many right now.

"I'll be keeping the Facebook and Instagram pages open for existing customers to contact (and who knows, I might need them in the future!)."

The cake shop also sold cupcakes, slices of cake, brownies, cake jars, milkshakes and a range of hot drinks, all available to eat in or take away.

It also stocked a range of cake decorating equipment such as cake boards, boxes and sugar paste.

Since posting the statement, dozens of customers have expressed sadness.

Geraldine McCarthy said: "So so sad to read this Hannah, your creations have brought so much pleasure to so many people.

"Its criminal how the big industries can force the little businesses to fold with their greed for money. I wish you all the best for the future, much love."

Carol Anne added: "Sorry to hear this, you have made three amazing cakes this past year for us. Good luck for the future."

Elle's Deli, which also operates in the same premises, will not be affected by the closure.
