We love to find lovely venues to socialise with family and friends in the 'Pub of the Week' feature.

This time, we have chosen an award-winning North West micro-brewery that took over a landmark town centre pub building in Blackburn.

Earlier last year, Horwich's Blackledge Brewery moved into the Ribblesdale Hotel, Gladstone’s and Baroque Bar, in Northgate.

Name of the pub: Blackedge Ribblesdale Brewery Bar

Address of the pub: 35 Northgate, Blackburn BB2 1JU

Lancashire Telegraph:

Opposite King George’s Hall, the striking 19th century building was taken over by Wayne Roper, co-founder of the Blackedge Brewery, to bring fine craft beers to the Victorian pub.

At the time of opening, Wayne said: "As soon as I saw the building, I was really taken by it. I brought my wife and she loved it too.

“Blackedge Brewery was born out of a love of the US craft beer scene and it started with my brother-in-law Sean and I brewing beer in a shed at the end of my garden.

“We also have occasional live music and pop-up events with food offers."

Lancashire Telegraph:

Their website says that the Ribblesdale offers 'something different to Blackburn', with a large upstairs area and plenty of seating across two floors.

They hope to introduce live music and events to the Ribblesdale in 2024, but for now the bar offers a relaxed atmosphere with a great team of staff.

The pub currently does not serve hot food, but offers bar snacks such as pork pies.

Their drink selection includes Lilley's Cider, Cool the Engine's Pale Ale, and Black Stout Cask Ale.

Their opening hours are Wednesday to Thursday, 1pm to 8pm, Friday to Saturday 12:30pm to 11pm and Sunday 12:30pm to 8pm.

Commenting on their Facebook page, Sean Hammett wrote: "Came in last week for the 1st time, will be back in soon enough, great beers, good clean surroundings."

Malcom Henrick wrote: "Amazing range of ales, great atmosphere too."
