Storm Isha caused some disruption around Blackburn with Darwen this week, causing trees to topple over.

The council has urged the public to avoid some areas in the borough as they clear some of the uprooted trees.

A huge sycamore tree fell in Sunnyhurst Wood in Darwen, near the Sunnyhurst pub.

The council shared a picture of a worker near the huge root plate of the tree.

The tree is set to be cleared today.

A pine tree also fell close to the remembrance garden in Pleasington Crematorium.

The council has urged the public to avoid the area until removal works are complete.

A spokesperson for Blackburn with Darwen Council said: “Thankfully Storm Isha didn’t wreak too much havoc in Blackburn with Darwen.

“However a poor pine tree has fallen close to the remembrance garden in Pleasington Crematorium.

“For your safety, please avoid the area today, until we’ve completed the removal works – which will hopefully be later today.

“A sycamore tree also fell in Sunnyhurst Woods (pic on the left) by the Lychgate close to the Sunnyhurst pub.

“Just look at the size of the root plate! Our teams are midway through getting this removed and that work will be completed today too.”
