Blackburn with Darwen Council has revealed the amount of grit used on local roads during the recent cold snap.
The council said in the last week, 1,142 tonnes of grit was used to treat 1,903 miles of the network, across a total of 176 driving hours.
During January itself 1,444 tonnes of grit has been used to treat 3,108 miles of the network, across a total of 260 driving hours.
The gritting teams were out in force last Tuesday as the first heavy snow of the winter fell across the region. In Blackburn with Darwen the main roads were clear when snow fell but further cold days meant some areas remained iced over.
The cold snap ended this weekend and was followed by heavy rain and strong winds which are set to continue through this week.
