When it came to putting together a carnival float, Blackburn’s Lion Brewery was clearly up for the challenge.

This photo is from 1952 and shows a bar set up on the back on one of the brewery’s wagons outside the main brewery building.

Quite how the pyramid of bottled beers remained upright when the lorry set off is a mystery. Perhaps they were fastened in place. Same for the beer barrels - you wouldn’t want them rolling off into the path of oncoming traffic.
