A landmark Blackburn hotel has announced the installation of new solar panels on its roof to reduce its carbon footprint.
The 152-bedroom Hampton by Hilton Hotel, just off the M65, will now be powered by 124 Risen Energy 410W state-of-the-art solar panels.
The 50.84kWp system, installed by Perfect Sense Energy, with two 20kW inverters, has been installed on the hotel's rooftop.
Over the next 25 years, the hotel aims to reduce its carbon footprint by 246 tonnes, the equivalent of driving from Blackburn to the site of the first Hampton by Hilton in Memphis, Tennessee, (4,212 miles) 150 times.
The hotel said it will use 100 per cent of the energy created by the system and won’t be selling excess energy back to the grid.
The hotel also features three electric vehicle charging points as part of its broader sustainability initiatives.
Adam Barrow, general manager, said: "We are thrilled to announce the integration of solar power at Hampton by Hilton Blackburn.
"This marks a significant step in our journey towards sustainable hospitality, reinforcing our commitment to environmental responsibility."
