Emergency services descended on Blackpool this afternoon (January 11), after a crash involving a tram and a car, on the New South Promenade.
Police were called at around 2.44am o a report that a tram had crashed into a vehicle and come off the tracks.
Pictures, provided by Lee Sherrington, show a mangled Range Rover being towed away, surrounded by debris.
Blackpool Transport said trams will be terminating at the Pleasure Beach “until further notice” due to police activity.
A police spokesperson said: “We were called at 2.44pm, on January 11, to New South Promenade, Blackpool, to a report that a tram had collided with a vehicle and come off the tracks.
“Emergency services have attended the scene.”
A spokesperson for AA Traffic and Travel said: “Partially blocked and slow traffic due to crash on Harrow Place both ways near A584 New South Promenade.”
A spokesperson for Blackpool Transport said: “Unfortunately due to police activity the tram network will be terminating at the Pleasure Beach until further notice. Apologies for the inconvenience cause.”
