A new show celebrating one of the Beatles is coming to Blackburn in March after a successful run at Edinburgh Fringe.

Something About George - The George Harrison Story will be showing at the Empire Theatre in Blackburn on Saturday, March 2, as part of a 31-stop tour of the British Isles.

The show aims to highlight the talents of George Harrison, who achieved worldwide fame in The Beatles and as a solo artist.

Daniel Taylor, who has appeared on the West End, fronts a band of five to tell the story of George Harrison's life and perform his biggest hits, alongside Joe Smithson, Callum Macmillan, Tom Kinton and James Breckon.

It features hits such as 'My Sweet Lord', 'Something' and 'Got My Mind Set On You', as well as a number of Beatles classics and music from supergroup The Travelling Wilburys which he formed with Bob Dylan, Jeff Lynne, Roy Orbison and Tom Petty.

Harrison lived a fascinating life, from his musical upbringing in Liverpool, to meeting John, Paul and Ringo and becoming 'bigger than Jesus' with the Beatles, solo work, founding HandMade Films to produce Monty Python's Life of Brian, his passion for humanitarian and charitable work, and conversion to Hinduism, before his tragic death from cancer aged just 58.

Daniel Taylor, who plays Harrison, said: "I’m really looking forward to taking Something About George back out on the road in February and March for a much larger tour, performing it again for UK audiences and also premiering in Ireland.

"We had such a great reception when we performed the show last year and I can guarantee people a fantastic journey through George’s life and his amazing music.”

The show is written by Jon Fellowes, and co-produced by him and Gary Edward Jons and Bill Elms.

Mr Elms added: It may be 20 years since the world lost George Harrison, but he lives on through his incomparable music.and this show created in Liverpool, highlights the legacy he left the world.

"To have played the famous Liverpool Philharmonic Hall to a sell-out audience on his 80th birthday last year was a very special moment indeed.

"There’s been nothing but praise for this wonderful show which will now visit 28 venues across the UK and heads across the water to Ireland for three special dates.

"The show is going from strength to strength and is a wonderful and moving tribute to one of Liverpool’s favourite sons.”

Tickets for the show are available from the Empire Theatre box office and website.
