One of Blackburn’s biggest mosques is to host a national exhibition about the history of Palestine.

The Palestine pop-up exhibition will take place at Madina Masjid in Oak Street, and has been organised in conjunction with the Raza Mosque.

The interactive event on Sunday, January 7, aims to educate communities on the importance and history of Palestine and Jerusalem, known as Al-Quds in Arabic.

The event will be showcasing a number of pop up exhibitions illustrating areas such as a live model of the Al-Aqsa compound, a timeline of the history of Palestine to current day, guides to understanding Palestine culture, plus Palestinian arts.

There will also be crafts session for children and family activities.

Everyone is welcome to attend the event. Women and children under the age of 10, are requested to attend between  11am and 4pm. Men (with children) are requested to attend between 4pm and 6pm.

Madrassah pupils can attend with parents on Monday from 5pm-7pm (January 8).

Volunteers are also hoping top raise funds to support Palestinians civilians displaced by the fighting between Israel and Hamas in Gaza.

A mosque spokesperson said: “We urge all communities to attend to increase their love and support of Al Aqsa and allow us to create stronger campaigns for Palestine in 2024.”
