A drink driver and a motorist who was driving with bald tyres were some of the drivers caught in a police operation.
On Friday, December 15, officers conducted a road safety operation in Altham and Accrington.
This is after an increase in reports of motorists speeding in the area. Two drivers were reported for speeding.
Ten roadside breath tests were conducted and one motorist was arrested for drink driving.
A driver was also reported for having bald tyres and one driver was in possession of drugs.
A police spokesperson said: “On Friday, December 15, officers from the Hyndburn Neighbourhood Policing team were joined by Special Constables from the Safer Roads Team to conduct a road safety operation in Altham and Accrington.
“There has been an increase in the number of reports from residents of Altham stating that there are vehicles travelling at speed along Burnley Road.
"Officers were out in both locations on Friday evening with the speed gun and as a result of the operation in Altham, there were two drivers issued traffic offence reports for speeding.
“In addition to this, one driver was arrested for drink driving. There were more than 10 roadside breath tests conducted as well as a traffic offence report due to bald tyres and one driver found in possession of drugs which was dealt with accordingly.
“With it being the festive season, the police team have been stopping vehicles throughout the month of December with a view to making the roads of Hyndburn safer for you.
"Drink/drug driving will not be tolerated and we want you to have a safe Christmas.”
