Police responded when CCTV caught two men fighting in Burnley town centre in the early hours of the morning, a court has been told.

Blackburn Magistrats' Court heard Callum Hart and the other man had a disagreement which they took onto the street on April 16.

Hart, 20, of Kimberley Close, Burnley, pleaded guilty to using threatening behaviour with intent to cause fear of or provoke unlawful violence.

He was fined £120 with £85 costs and a £48 victim surcharge.

District Judge Alexandra Preston said the defendant’s behaviour reflected badly on him.

“You were so drunk you don’t even remember what it was about,” she said.

“It is the kind of behaviour which dissuades people from going into town centres for a night out.”

Daniel Frazer, by way of mitigation, said his client could not recall what had sparked the incident.

“Fighting in the street is not acceptable and he accepts that,” said Mr Frazer.
