Plans have gone in to convert two barns into five new homes.

Craig Dyson, of Hollin Raikes Farm, Cowling, Keighley, wants to transform the barns, at Knarr End Farm, Warley Wise Lane, Colne, into five houses.

If approved, the plans would see one two-bed detached home created, three two-bed homes, and one three-bed home built.

There is currently space for four cars on the site, with provisions expanding by six, making 10 car parking spaces overall – a provision of two spaces per home.

A planning statement submitted to Pendle Council reads: “The dwellings fall within the footprint of existing barns within the farm’s grounds.

“A previous application for agricultural buildings to dwelling class Q was approved in January 2020; however being able to change the aesthetic of the buildings would better contribute to the surrounding area and offer more sustainable living to residents thanks to current building techniques.

“The landscape will not need to be altered other than providing new surfaces and designated car parking spaces; no trees or shrubs will need to be removed.

“Where possible, landscaped garden areas have been proposed.

“Knarrs End Farm has an existing access driveway that will be utilised rather than requiring any new access ways to be created.

“The proposals will generate a new place that aims to meet the needs of the community and its future generations.

“The proposals seek to deliver a sustainable development and a high quality of life that improves economic, social and environmental well-being.

“The proposals therefore have the potential to support the existing community facilities and local businesses through an increased population living nearby.”

Plans were submitted last week and anyone wishing to comment can do so by January 3 via Pendle Council’s website.
