The primary school league tables in Blackburn with Darwen for the past year have been published by the Government.

The table ranks each school in the borough by the percentage of pupils meeting the expected standard in reading, writing and maths at the end of Key Stage 2.

Of the 64 primary schools in the borough, 53 have data available or applicable.

At 11 schools three-quarters or more of pupils achieve the expected standard, and at 37 at least half of pupils are where they should be upon leaving primary school.

The Department for Education does clarify that “school performance data for the 2022/23 academic year should be used with caution given the ongoing impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic, which affected individual schools and pupils differently”.

Across Blackburn with Darwen, 60 per cent of pupils leaving primary school this year achieved the expected standard, in line with the national average, with seven per cent achieving a higher standard, one per cent less than England’s average.

The average reading progress score was marginally below average, while for writing and maths was marginally above average, but all in all, pupil performance in the borough matched England's average.
