An evening of music and entertainment formed the crescendo of a Blackburn school’s centenary year of celebrations.
Westholme School, which commemorated 100 years of education this year, invited past and present students and staff to the event at the independent school to celebrate.
The programme of events included performances from the school’s centenary orchestra and choirs, soloists, the school’s swing band and teachers past and present, including the former director of music, Eric Millest.
Guest announcers included students, former principals Lillian Croston and Lynne Horner, before Brian Marsden, chair of governors, brought the event to a close.

Jonathan Oracz, head of sixth form, said: “What a memorable and glorious year of celebration it has been for Westholme, to commemorate our 100-year anniversary.
"We have reminisced, reflected, and reconnected in all manner of ways and this marvellous musical conclusion is a fitting and triumphant close to a remarkable 12 months.”
The programme for the event included kind words and memories from students and staff who have attended or worked at the school over the decades as well as Anne Longson, the great niece of Westholme’s founder, Emily Singleton.

Anne said: “Emily would be absolutely awestruck by how the school has developed and this concert would have blown her away!”
Vivienne Davenport, commercial director added: “The centenary celebrations have been a chance to remind ourselves of what a special place Westholme really is.
"Returning students talk time and again of the benefits of our holistic approach to education, which helps each and every student achieve their full potential.
“We’d like to thank everyone who attended all of our events this year or sent their messages of thanks and support.
"We look forward to writing the next chapter in Westholme’s history book.”
