A Ribble Valley pub is set to host an awards in Lancashire for the first time.

The Parkers Arms in Newton-in-Bowland was crowned the best gastropub in the UK this year, which is why it will be hosting the next Estrella Damm Top 50 Gastropubs Awards on January 22.

Chef-patron Stosie Madi has shared her excitement over the occasion as it will provide an opportunity for local and suppliers to showcase their products to top gastro pub operators from around the country.

She said: “It’s just amazing because it’s the first time the event is being held in Lancashire and it’s going to be amazing for the community.

"People are coming from all over the country and a lot of places are already fully booked, which is great for the local economy.

“We’re just so proud. When we first made it onto the top 50 list at number 48, I never imagined that we would win it, let alone host it. We’re very proud for Lancashire, for our pub, and for the hospitality industry as a whole.

“We’re not sure who’s going to win it, we hope it’s Lancashire, but the most important this is having the awards here will be great for representing the amazing businesses Lancashire has to offer.”

The White Swan at Fence and Freemasons at Wiswell have both secured a spot on the Top 50 list once again.

Stosie also congratulated a new Lancashire entry, Coach and Horses in Bolton by Bowland who has also made it on the top 100 list.

To ensure the smooth execution of the awards ceremony, the Parkers Arms is hiring experienced hospitality workers aged 16 and above. Shifts are available on Sunday, January 21, and Monday, January 22, with 20 positions open.

Competitive hourly wages range from £9 an hour for people aged 16 to 18, and wages start from £12 an hour for 19 and over depending on age and experience.

Transportation from and to Clitheroe will be provided for those without their own transport.

Stosie said: “It is only for experienced hospitality workers. Rather than outsourcing to agencies we feel it will be a great opportunity for local hospitality workers to take part in this thrilling momentous occasion and to earn a nice bonus. Any interested parties please email enquiries@parkersarms.co.uk.

“We will be curating a menu reviving Northern classics in our very own Parkers way and are extremely excited to share the wonderful local bounty and Lancashire hospitality with everyone.”
