Motorists have been urged to avoid some roads in Oswaldtwistle, due to flooding.

Haslingden Road and Lottice Lane are flooded, which is making driving conditions difficult.

Officers have asked motorists to avoid the roads and drive carefully this evening (Thursday).

A police spokesperson said: “Please can we advise you of flooding and standing water on Haslingden Road and Lottice Lane which is making driving conditions bad.

“Please can we ask you to avoid these roads if possible and take it easy whilst driving home tonight.”

At the time of writing a flood alert is in place for the Upper River Wyre.

Areas most at risk include Rivers Wyre, Calder and Brock and other watercourses from Abbeystead to Catterall including Scorton, Garstang, Bilsborrow, Ainspool and Churchtown. No property flooding or basin operation is expected
