A Blackburn church will host a free lunch for families in the run up to Christmas.

The Christ Apostolic Church Mount Zion International is based on the corner of Johnston Street and Addison Close, was formerly the St Barnabas Church.

It is run by Pastor Michael Ajibola and his wife Mabel who took over the building 12 years ago.

On Saturday December 16 local residents are being invited to the ‘Celebrate Event of Songs in Winter’ from noon.

Food will be served to everyone who attends and the event is being run in conjunction with the Cadent Centre for Warmth project managed by Bangor Street Community Centre.

Pastor Michael said: “This event will be awesome where we are expecting all races' colours and ethnicity within Blackburn and neighbourhood communities to enjoy the winter evenings together

“We are holding it as a way of bringing the community together irrespective of your race and colour in winter where people share love and meeting people.”

People on the day will also be able to find out carbon monoxide safety and energy saving.
