Nineties boy band, East 17, are to play at an East Lancashire venue this weekend and there are only a few tickets left.
The Stay another Day pop sensations will perform live at St Mary’s Chambers in Rossendale this Saturday, December 9, with a set packed full of their greatest hits, including the 1994 Christmas No.1.
East 17 were formed in 1991, and were named after the postcode of their hometown Walthamstow.
The group has since achieved 18 top-20 singles and four top-10 albums, and were one of the UK's most popular boy bands during the early to mid-1990s and sold more than 18 million albums worldwide.
They have also been certified with sales of 1.8 million albums and 2.4 million singles in the UK.
Their biggest hit, Stay Another Day, was the Christmas number one in 1994 and they scored 12 top 10 hits between 1992 and 1998 including House of Love and It’s All Right.
In 1996 the group hit number two with the track If You Ever, a duet with Gabrielle.
East 17 performed at the 2009 Glastonbury Festival and in 2017 they toured Australia and New Zealand with Atomic Kitten, S Club 3 and Liberty X.
Despite multiple line-up changes, which saw Tony Mortimer, Brian Harvey and John Hendy leave the band, the group continues today as a trio under the lead vocals of Terry Coldwell who was one of the founders of East 17. Terry was also responsible for writing some of the band’s hits, including Stay Another Day.
Joe Livermore joined the band in 2019 and former Artful Dodger collaborator Robbie Craig joined 2014.
A St Mary’s Chambers spokesperson said: “We are over the moon to bring the band to Rossendale for a Christmas Special of epic proportions.
“When approached for a date from the band’s management, we felt that it was an incredible opportunity to bring them to Rossendale and sing one of the UK’s most popular Christmas songs live and direct in Rossendale alongside all of their greatest hits.
“As huge fans of the band ourselves and of course of that Christmas number one we feel it’s set to be a Christmas night out to be remembered.”
