Plans have been submitted to council planning bosses to place two ‘shepherds huts’ on the site of a collection of cottages to be used as holiday accommodation.

The huts will be at the site of Bailey Cottages in Clitheroe Road, Mitton, and will be constructed by a local company.

They are small, one-bedroom units which will add to a vast array of holiday accommodation available to tourists in the Ribble Valley.

“The shepherds’ huts are constructed by a local company based in Ribchester called Wells Shepherds Huts.

"The proposed huts are constructed in timber and clad in corrugated steel with a mono-pitch steel corrugated roof.

“The huts are raised above the ground on wheels and have steps to access them. Examples of similar units can be seen on the company website.”

A small gravel area will be provided to the side of each hut for sitting out and there will be further gravel areas for parking and turning.

A shed is also proposed next to one of the huts which can be used to stoor outdoor activity equipment such as bikes.

As well, an electric vehicle charging point will be provided next to the parking area, and low-key lighting is proposed as a single lamp on the exterior of each hut.

Hedges will be planted to separate the site from the remainder of the garden at one of the Bailey Cottages
