Model railway enthusiasts are being invited to a special show at Oswaldtwistle Mills in the run-up to Christmas.

The Blackburn and East Lancs Model Railway Society (BELMRS) is holding its third annual Christmas Exhibition and Open this weekend, Saturday December 2 and Sunday December 3.

The exhibition will feature a dozen working model railway layouts on display in 0 Gauge, 00, N Gauge and 009 Narrow Gauge.

The club’s N Gauge scale model of Rishton station as it was in the 1950s and 1960s, when steam trains were still running on the East Lancashire line between Preston and Colne will also be on display.

The model includes a busy working goods yard and players can be seen on the bowling green behind the Rishton Arms.

There will be steam and diesel layouts in the various gauges, including some based on modern-day locations with sound-fitted locos, as well as a model of the Welshpool and Llanfair Railway in Wales.

Also on display will be two layouts representing the United States railway scene.

The show is open 10am-5pm on Saturday and 10am-4pm on Sunday. Entry is £5 with accompanied children under 16 admitted free. Family tickets are also available at £8.
