The annual charity Community Carol Concerts will return to Blackburn this weekend.

Blackburn Salvation Army are hosting their concert at Vicar Street on Sunday, December 3.

The event will kick off at 4pm and will include Christmas favourites such as Once in Royal David's City,  All I want for Christmas is you, O Come all ye faithful, The Christmas Song, Christmas Calypso, and A Starry Night.

There will be performances from the East Lancashire Hospital Choir, the Salvation Army Brass Band and a vocal soloist.

The Mayor of Blackburn with Darwen Cllr Parwaiz Akhtar will be in attendance and, whilst the Salvation Army does its own charitable work at Christmas and throughout the year, on this occasion there will be a retiring collection for the Mayor's charities which are the East Lancashire Hospice, Nightsafe and the East Lancashire Hospitals Trust and Me charity.

Blackburn Salvation Army bandmaster, Eric Millest, said: 'It is always great to get together with good music and to support good causes.

“We are sure that this years Community Carol Concert on the first Sunday in advent will kick off everyone's Christmas season in great style!"

The event is free of charge and will be located at Blackburn Salvation Army on Vicar Street.
