The landlord of a pub in Accrington has revealed details of a six-figure renovation.

The Victoria Hotel, on Manchester Road, shut earlier this month as it undergoes the refurbishment.

The bar area is set to be revamped but landlord Craig Watson thinks people will be most surprised by the changes made to the beer garden.

An improved food menu has also been promised, with plans to introduce a bottomless brunch menu in the future.

The pub is set to reopen on December 7.

Craig, who has been landlord of the pub for eight years, said: “Initially we needed a new carpet. Thwaites then suggested we carry out a bigger refurbishment.

“We wanted to make some more space for dining.

“We also wanted to change up the beer garden. It is going to look a lot different outside and I think people will be surprised.

“We’ve moved the entrance of the beer garden to make it safer and more secure.

“We have created another 12 covers outside and 16 inside.”

Craig said the pub will look “bigger and brighter” once renovations are complete.

He said: “We have a lot of families and dog walkers through our door and our food is starting to go really well, especially on Sundays.

“It will look bigger and brighter and we have introduced some modern changes. We have also kept the original features of the pub.”

A spokesperson from Daniel Thwaites, which owns the pub, said: “We are currently conducting a six-figure renovation of The Victoria Hotel pub in Accrington.

“The investment will see a full refurbishment of the bar area by incorporating a design that is contemporary yet sensitive to the original features of the pub, as well as upgrades to the beer garden.

“Paired with this investment, will see the launch of an improved food offering served alongside our award-winning cask ales.”
