CCTV has been released after the body of a woman was found in a canal, in Rishton, earlier this year.

Officers are still investigating the circumstances surrounding Joanne Nield’s death, after her body was found in the the Hyndburn Brook at Rishton,

To help her family get some answers, police have released CCTV clips in the hopes that anyone with information can come forward.

The first part of the CCTV clip shows Joanne speaking to the driver of a car in Edgar Street, Accrington, at 12.10am on Tuesday, March 14.

This person is a witness and could have important information that could help the police investigation. They have been asked to get in touch.

The second part of the clip show the last recorded movements police have of Joanne.

She is shown walking along Blackburn Road in Accrington, minutes after her interaction with the driver of the car.

Anyone who might have seen her, walking towards Accrington town centre, has been asked to reach out to police.

A Lancashire Police spokesperson said: “In July we told you that we had sadly found the body of Joanne Nield in the Leeds and Liverpool Canal at Rishton.

“We just wanted to let you know that we are still investigating the circumstances which led to Joanne’s death and we need your help to get answers for her family.

“The first part of the CCTV clip shows Joanne speaking to the driver of a car in Edgar Street, Accrington, at 12.10am on Tuesday, March 14.

"This person is a witness and could have important information that could help our investigation. So we need to speak to them as soon as possible.

“The second part of the clip show the last recorded movements we have of Joanne. She is captured walking along Blackburn Road in Accrington minutes after her interaction with the driver of the car.

“We are confident that somebody will have seen Joanne as she continued to walk towards Accrington town centre.

“We still have a dedicated team of officers assigned to this investigation who have carried out countless enquiries to establish the full circumstances which led to Joanne’s death.

“At this stage we are continuing to keep an open mind.

“If you are the driver of the car or if you saw Joanne after 12.15am on the of March 14,we would ask that you get in contact as quickly as possible.”
