Darwen-based opticians' alliance the Hakim Group has teamed up with Shine Coaching for a month-long November walking challenge to raise awareness and funds for men's mental health, health, and suicide awareness.

The initiative encourages staff at the company to take part in a walking/running challenge, with the collective goal of covering more than 500 miles as a team.

The collaboration with Shine Coaching, a local community interest company based in Lancashire, aims to provide support and resolution for men struggling with stress, anger, and conflict in their daily lives.

The funds raised will be directed towards Shine Coaching's initiatives and activities, specifically benefiting the volunteers who play a crucial role in making a positive impact on the community.

Shine Coaching offers one-to-one guidance coaching with dedicated coaches, providing a free, accessible, personal, and flexible service.

Nick Lowe, head of communications and project management at Hakim Group, said: "We believe in the power of community and the impact it can have on mental health.

"By walking together and raising funds, we aim to bring communities closer and foster open conversations about men's mental health.

"The collaboration with Shine Coaching allows us to make a meaningful contribution to a cause that is often overlooked."

Lian Frankland, co-founder at Shine Coaching, added: "We are thrilled to join forces with Hakim Group for this impactful initiative.

"Mental health is a critical aspect of overall well-being, and our collaboration aims to make a positive difference in the lives of men in Lancashire.

"Together, we can create awareness, support individuals, and promote healthier communities."
